Scrap Around the World's Epic Anniversary!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick, quick post to let you know that Scrap Around the World has been celebrating it's epic anniversary event this month with tons of amazing prizes! The thing is, there's only ONE day left....today!! So go to SATW, check out the beautiful projects, fab prizes, and see this mood board:

and get inspired! Here's my take using lot's of awesome goodies from UmWowStudio (they're offering one of the prize packs!)

I decided to make a canvas, something to hang in my older daughter's room :) I used masking fluid to paint the script on the background. Next I painted and stamped the background. When I peeled off the masking fluid, the script became visible.

The red balloon is made with UWS Heart Confetti chippies, glued, gessoed, and painted. The blue and pink balloons are UWS masks (Chevron and Star Confetti) with high gloss gel medium and paint.

OK, so now go make something for SATW if you haven't already! And as always, thanks for visiting!

Kreative Koncepts Color Challenge #24 - Cherish

Hi everyone,

Really soft and lovely colors is what we have up at Kreative Koncepts for their new Color Challenge. It's not always easy for me to work with pastels but that's why it's a challenge right?

I have this adorable photo of my baby girl and hubby. She's looking at him and he's making funny faces...it's so typical (he's usually trying to be goofy with the kids and make them laugh though sometimes they're just trying to figure him out)....

Pretty isn't it?

I'm not a PL'er but I do appreciate all the cool, rounded cornered cards that are around for PL. That idea became the inspiration for this page. The lime green card is cardstock covered in washi tape and cut out with my Silhouette.

I started with molding paste and the Chevron mask from TCW (you know I've got to add some sort of media;). Then I took metallic watercolor paint to random areas for the background.

I used mini punches to make the butterflies, hearts and stars then "matched" them to the appropriately colored cards.

After that, it was just a bit of string and that cute flair from Evalicious and my page was done!

UmWowStudio, May Arts, and Avery Elle swap!

Hi everyone!

This week UmWowStudio is swapping and blog hopping with Avery Elle stamps and May Arts! There's lots of prizes to be had, not to mention lots of inspiration so come join in! There will be new projects everyday at all three of the blogs.....

Here's my page for the hop. Ok, what was I going for here? Well, when I snapped that photo, I thought it was hysterical and it immediately reminded me of Alice in Wonderful so that's where the title came from. I was trying to make an organic, dreamy, slightly psychedelic feel to the page....did I achieve it? I hope so :)

I knew I wanted to use the UWS Ray Background on this page. Again, in trying to get a more organic feel, I painted the chippie with gesso then with Kroma crackle medium. I painted them with Color Shine and tapped PearlEx powder to fill in the grooves.

I stamped the background with the cool Avery Elle sun stamps from the Bright Days collection and used the May Arts Webbed Weave Ribbon as a stencil with high gloss gel medium.

Next, I painted with watercolors. I made pink enamel dots by stamping with the small circle stamp from the Bright Days set then covering the circles with Glossy Accents (beware, drying time is quite long!).

The final details and touches included fun flair from UWS, little chevron arrows stamped out from Avery Elle and the pink cord loops from May Arts around my enamel circles.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I hope you had fun....!

Taking Care of Business

Hi everyone,

Wow, I feel like I've been so busy with nothing to show for it! The school year is coming to an end and it feels as if my oldest baby has SO MANY school functions and activities going on....(taking a deep breath)...but it's exciting to her and I'm excited for her!

And I've got some news of my own to share :) I'm excited, uh actually, over the moon(!) to be a part of The Crafter's Workshop 2014 Design Team!!

Here is the link to the announcement and here is the page to find out a little more about each of us. Come by and say "hello"!

And I'm not done yet. ;)

It's my turn up at UmWowStudio

That's my youngest baby all geared up and excited for her first day of preschool! I grin every time I see those photos...she was so excited that day because she was going to school just like her big sister.

I wanted a messy, child art-like feel to this page so I just random, messy-painted and left big droplets of color. I wrote the alphabet with white crayon in the back before painting to get a little resist action.

And don't you just love the little UWS alpha chippies? I thought using them for the alphabet would be fun!

The arrow worked so well with that stamped word and I always feel the need to put little hearts everywhere.

I added the circles with molding paste over the watercolors for that texture then doodled around them (what would I do without circles?!).

And that's my 'taking care of business' ;) Hope you all have a great day!
