Art Journal Pages

Hi everyone!

I don't play in my art journal nearly as much as I'd like to but sometimes I finish a few pages. I try not to worry to much about the outcome, just enjoy the process. Here's some pages to share:

This page was done over an existing page...it was an incomplete page that I was stuck on so I covered the whole page in gesso and restarted.

I love feathers and I had cut some out of my Silhouette. I used the feathers on one project and used the negatives as stencils for this page. Remember this wonderful quote?

This last page was more about the sentiment. I found myself saying these words again and again on a particular day (I was having one of "those" days) so I decided to commit it to paper.

There's a big weekend coming up, hope everyone enjoys theirs!

Flowers and Lace

Hi Everyone,

I'll be honest...me and flowers and lace don't usually hang out in the same circles. Don't get me wrong, I like flowers and lace, I admire them on many layouts when I see people do amazing things with them but they are not my usual go to products. I feel like I don't quite know what to do with them!

So what did I do to partake in CSI's Case No. 63 which called for things more soft and feminine? I looked to the experts of course :) In this case I admired, studied (ooo'd and ahhh'd) Czekoczyna's blog. Her work is phenomenal, crazy beautiful! She pulls off a perfect mix of feminine and grunge, often with plenty of flowers and lace and I very much admire her style!

I don't know if I did her any justice but I tried and I'm really happy with the results:

There was lot's of stamping, painting, misting and building of layers. And for my Evidence I used flowers, pearls, tape measure (though it's quite buried), numbers, lace, and a tag. For my Testimony I journaled on a tag tucked under the photo.

I enjoyed building the layers, not just the media layers but also the paper and embellishment layers...

There we go...flowers! I've amassed quite a bit over the years and I'm actually feeling encouraged to use them!

The white rosette came as part of a lovely RAK I received from my friend Helene Bogren....thank you!
And as I said I would try to do, here are my supplies....

Papers: Prima Songbird, Flowers: Prima, Recollections, Stamps: SA, Recollections, 7 Gypsies, Lace: May Arts, Prima, Washi: FF, GA, Recollections, Chipboard: Studio 18, Thread: Daiso

I tried to show all the labels so it's self explanatory (of course feel free to ask if you're not sure!). Well maybe...Pen: Zig, Chalk Ink: VersaMagic

That's all for now! Thanks so much for dropping by!

I Love ILS!

Hi everyone!

It's really amazing how international scrapbooking has become. There's so many wonderful paper collections, chipboards, embellishments coming out from other countries, so many international blogs with really fun challenges and so many seriously. talented. people.

One paperline I absolutely adore is ILS or I Lowe Scrap. They're out of Poland and I love their stuff and I LOVE to see what the talented DT members do with the papers. You know how a certain style of scrapbooking just calls to you? Well ILS calls to me :)

I'd been coveting those papers for some time since they are not as easy to get in the US and I finally got my hands on some!! In case you are interested, Freckled Fawn sells them stateside.

I vowed not to hoard the paper ;) so I jumped right in to this month's color challenge here:

February+colours.jpg (448×500)

I used watercolors and Gelatos to get the colors in the background. Behind the photo are layers made of ILS paper, vellum, and washi tape.

I've also decided to try a new thing. At the end of every post, I'll do a snapshot of the supplies used for that page. I got the idea from Yvonne Yam and her blog Do More With Less who gives a great anatomical breakdown of her pages.

Patterned paper and sentiment tags from ILS, yellow tissue paper, black CS from Recollections, vellum paper by Daiso, watercolor paint from Angora, Faber Castell gelatos, spray by Color Shine, gesso by Golden, mini roller stamp by Glitz, stamp by Studio g, washi tape by Recollections, thread by Daiso, and TH paper distresser

That's all for today, thanks for stopping by!

Last Minute

Hi everyone,

Have you ever wanted to participate in an online challenge but the timing was never right or you didn't quite have what you needed, or the mojo wasn't quite there or whatever?? Well I'm squeezing the challenge in in the absolute last minute!!

CSI case #61 is about to end in a few hours but I really loved the colors and the evidence and really wanted to work on this but for whatever reasons I could not get to it until today, Sunday!! So here it is:

Papers by MME (Dolled Up), Recollections, Studio g, Atd, Mists by Color Shine, Shimmerz Coloringz, Paints by Angora,  Punch by Martha Stewart, Chipboard by Prima, Silhouette for heart and page tab

Oranges and grey? What a beautiful color scheme!

Anyway, I tried to do it some justice....

I got this awesome page tab from Blinks of Life. She has beautiful stuff
in her store. This cut file is FREE! The large heart was cut from my Silhouette
and the font is Efon (love dingbats!)

Prima chipboard, went to well with the color scheme!

Some mixed media fun!

OK, now off I go, I've got to "turn in" my page!!!! Cheers, thanks for stopping by!

In My Phone

Hi everyone!

Did you see the challenge going on over at True XOXO Scrapbooking? The idea this month is to scrap your photos that you did NOT take with a camera...well a traditional camera that is. Scrap those photos on your phones! As a matter of fact, use all those photo editing apps you've got installed and show us what you've made!

I've got so many photos on my phone and I wanted a way to use many of them so I decided to make a collage of photos and use that as my background! I realize it makes it tough to see the "scrapping" I've done on the layout but it sure feels good to use all those pics :)

Heidi Swapp alphas, Faber Castell Big Brush pens, Glitz Tiny Roller Stamp, Recollections washi tape, Studio Calico Mistables cameras, Heidi Swapp chipboard hearts, Ranger Color Wash in Red Pepper, Faber Castell Pitt pastel pencil, MME paper Dolled Up, Polaroid and heart but with my Silhouette

Here's some close ups of those tough to see details:

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

A Sketch Challenge!

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/4877177/?claim=s365yq77yfk">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

Hello everyone!

It's been a little quiet here on my blog and my life is experiencing a quiet lull too. And you know what? That's OK, I'm enjoying the respite!

Today I'm sharing with you a page I made as a guest designer over at Scrap Friends for their Sketch Challenge #11. I absolutely loved playing along...the sketches are so enticing! Maybe you'll come play along too?

My eldest daughter and her closest friend now live on the opposite ends of the country from each other but that won't stop them from seeing each other if the moms have anything to do to do with it! Here they are hanging out for a summer's week.

Papers by SodaliciousMMESimple Stories, Washi Tape by Freckled Fawn, Recollections, Baker's Twine by AC, Paints and Mists by Angora, Derwent Inktense, Faber Castell Gelatos
Here's the sketch...

I've been using my Silhouette a lot lately and loving it! Airplane and clouds all cut with my Sil followed by and little painting and doodling...

A little mixed media close up...

Hope you all have and fabulous weekend! See you on the other side....
